Bands: (hed)p.e., Nonpoint, and Systematic (The "Just Say No" Tour)
Alright. The first band that came on stage was Systematic. They are a new
band with an album coming out soon. I had some of their songs on Napster and
I thought they were pretty cool. But they were great live. Since their album
wasn't out yet, I only recognized a few songs but that didn't keep them from
blowing me away live. They aren't really for everyone but they are a good
band. They got an awesome pit going. The songs I know they played were "The
Beginning of the End," "Deep Colors Bleed," and "Dopesick." They played
about 4 or 5 other songs. They put on a good show.
Anyway, the next band was Nonpoint. I was looking forward to seeing them
live because I reall liked their album. And let me just say that they just
kicked the shit out of everybody. They got the pits going nuts on every song
they played. During the song "Hive," some guy got hit in the pit got hit in
the head with a bar stool and blood gushed everywhere. They stopped playing
for about 2 minutes to make sure the guy was okay and that he got the help
he needed. After all that shit, they wrapped up their set by playing a few
more songs. These guys are really good live. Elias (their singer) was all
over the stage and knew how to get the crowd going. The highlights of their
set were "What A Day," "Hive," "Victim," "Mislead" and "Endure."
Finally, (hed)p.e. came out after taking almost forever to set up. They
opended with "Killing Time" and they made the pit go nuts. They whole time
the pits were insane. Jahred (or M.C.U.D. as he was formally known as)
really knows how to interact with a crowd. He was all over the place, he
even jumped on the drum set a few times. They covered "Wake Up" by Rage
Against the Machine, which was great since I loved RATM's version. They
covered it very well. During "Bartender," they brought out Elias (from
Nonpoint) to help sing with them. This was great and got the pits going
crazy. DJ Product was on a leash the whole time and he'd always choke
himself by trying to run away from his turntables. He would also always
shoot fireworks out from the side of his tables. (hed)p.e. knows how to put
on an awesome live show. The highlights of their set were "Killing Time,"
"The Meadow," "Serpent Boy", "Crazy Legs", "Firsty", "Bartender" (w/ Elias
from Nonpoint) and their cover of Rage Against The Machine's "Wake Up."
This was a great concert and all the bands on the bill blew me away. I would
pay to see any of these bands on a headlining show. I look forward to seeing
(hed)p.e. again. They truly do put on an awesome and energetic show. They
aren't as good as Pantera are in concert but that's okay. They still blew me
away, as did the other bands. Another thing is that I talked you their sound
guy (yeah, I'm special) and he gave me about 10 stickers and a sampler cd,
which was cool. The only bad thing about this show is that I talked to
someone else after and it turns out that if I stayed only a few minutes
after I left, I could've met the band, which sucks ass. But I think I'll
live. I give this concert a perfect 10.
