We (myself and my two friends) got there a little late, and there was a rather large size crowd gathering in the pit area...and if we couldn't get a close spot against the barrier, we weren't going to stand around, so we got the closest seats we could and laid back till the show started.

First band up was Chevelle. I had only heard their one song, Mia, on MTV and I kinda liked it...reminded me alot of Tool. And a couple people told me their whole cd sounded alot like Tool...so they've gotta kick ass right? Wrong. Their cd may be good, but live they sounded like any other typical alternative band. Don't get me wrong, they weren't bad....they seemed to be good at what they did, but there just wasn't anything special about it. And they didn't get the crowd going at all...hell, I didn't even move from my seat.

Dope. I saw them open for Fear Factory a couple months ago, and I've since bought their cd and become a huge fan, so I'm not gonna sit back in my seat and miss the pit for this one. As soon as some people cleared out, I headed down there and worked my way right to the middle of where the pit usually is. And let me tell you, I wasn't far off. It seemed like last time I saw them...no one knew who they were...but it didn't take long..say 30 seconds into the first song, and the pit blew up. About halfway through their set, I was starting to get tired, and wanted to save some energy for PM5K and Static, so I eased out of the pit and watched from the side. They can put on one hell of a show...Edsel really gets the crowd into it...he even crowdsurfed a couple times which is always a plus. But anyway, they played for about 40 minutes and almost all of their album.

Next up was Static-X. They were the main reason I was going to this show. I saw them open for Fear Factory a little while back and there was no way I was gonna miss them the next time they came around. They started off with Bled For Days, and I lost it and went fucking psycho in the pit during their whole set. They played I think every song on their cd except Otsegolation and Sweat of the Bud, which I was a little disappointed about, but they made up for it by playing Down, a badass new song. They scared the shit outta me cause after 5 songs they quit and went off stage like they were done, but then everyone started booing and they came back out and Wayne said "Ha! Just kidding!" But it ended up being a nice little 40 minute set, and it would have definitely been worth it to come just to see these guys.

I was fucking exhausted after Static-X, so I went and got a couple drinks and by the time I got back, Powerman 5000 was starting so I found my friends and chilled in the seats with them for the rest of the concert. Unfortunately for me as soon as the guys came out, the place went nuts, and everybody in the seats stood up so I couldn't sit down and relax like I wanted to unless if I wanted to stare at people's asses. So I reluctantly stood up and enjoyed what ended up being a great set, even though I didn't expect it to be. Looking down in the pit, I wished I wasn't so tired, cause it was one hell of a pit. The whole damn floor area was a sea of people flying every which way. I'm not a huge fan of PM5K, I listen to their cd every once in awhile but I wouldn't have gone to this show just for them....but damn, their live show sure impressed the hell out of me...I even find myself listening to their cd alot more often. There's something about seeing a band live that makes you like them alot more. But anyway, they played about 45 minutes, then a 15 or 20 minute encore....damn near every song off their new cd, a couple old songs and even a cover of Radiohead's Creep which was badass. Overall it was a damn good concert...Chevelle was worse than I expected, Dope and Static were just as good as I knew they'd be, and Powerman was alot better than I expected them to be. Rating: 9
