I'll be honest with you, I like Orgy, but the main reason I was here was for Spineshank. If it weren't for them I probably wouldn't be at this show. Well, actually I probably would, because a certain someone would be begging me to take her *ahem*. But anyway, the last time I saw Spineshank was two years ago when they opened for Fear Factory, before anyone, including myself, knew who the hell they were. But I've spent the last two years listening to their cd's and growing to love them even more, so of course I couldn't fucking wait for this show.We got there about an hour later than we would've liked, so we didn't get a spot right up front....dammit. So we just found some seats and waited around there during the first two bands.

The first of which was Tinfed. Yeah, who? I had never heard of them either, and I wish I never would've had to. Let me list the reasons why they sucked. 1. They sound like every other band that's come out in the last 2 years. 2. The lead singer's voice was horrid. If you've ever heard Boy Hits Car, he sounded alot like their lead singer...which is not a good thing. And when you do have a voice like that, do not, I repeat, do not try to rap. 3. Musically they just didn't sound all that talented. Now let me list the reasons why they were good. 1. They didn't play very long. Next.

Alien Ant Farm. I was looking forward to them just a little bit, because I was curious...I had heard one of their songs and it actually sounded pretty decent. Unfortunately they ended up only being a little bit better than Tinfed in my opinion. At least the lead singer was rather charismatic, interacting with the crowd alot, walking all through the venue during one of the songs, etc. And not to mention the antics of the bassist...he was quite the fat freak. The music itself though, it just wasn't anything great....nothing that would catch my attention because it sounds like...let's see....oh yeah, every other band! Although there was one really cool thing in their set...they covered Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal"...damn it was badass...it even got 'em a standing ovation. At least they ended on a bright note.

There's no way I was gonna be sticking to the seats during Spineshank, so we went down on the floor and got as close as possible, which actually ended up being maybe 15 feet from the stage. I was so excited to see them I was fucking getting chills when they shut the lights off and started their intro. They came out and immediately broke into Asthmatic and I just fucking lost it...everybody around me was probably thinking 'go get in the pit and leave us alone you freak'. Fuck 'em. Surprisingly they played rather long...after like 6 songs I kept thinking each one was gonna be their last but they ended up playing around 10....half from Strictly Diesel and half from The Height of Callousness. Probably my two favorite moments were when they played Play God, which is easily my favorite song of theirs...and during The Height of Callousness, they had a couple of the guys from Chimaira (a local band that just signed to RoadRunner, watch out for 'em) came out to sing along during the chorus...although they didn't seem to know when to jump in, it was still badass. I was fucking exhausted after they finished...I basically beat the shit out of myself. But as tired as I was, we moved up a little closer and got ready for Orgy.

After it took 'em like an hour to set up, the lights went out and each band member comes out on stage one by one...and then Jay comes out...jesus christ did that place got so fucking loud...I was amazed because that place wasn't even half full. One thing about Jay, that guy is one hell of a presence on stage...he'd have to be behind only Manson as the most awe-inspiring performer on stage. Anyway, the only thing I didn't like about their whole set was how fucked up the sound was...it was fine during Spineshank, but during Orgy, it was up so loud it was distorted, I didn't even recognize some songs till like halfway through 'em...and you could barely even hear Jay...they needed to turn everybody else down and keep Jay where he was. Anyway, there were only three songs I absolutely had to hear them play...Opticon, Fiction (Dreams in Digital), and Blue Monday....the first two they played right in a row...yeah, I was in heaven. Then the last song they played was Blue Monday....that whole floor area was one big wild mass of flailing arms and bodies...it was fucking crazy...but it wasn't one of those violent things like most concerts because it wasn't packed in there, everybody had their room to get fucking crazy....which everyone did when the first few notes of Blue Monday came on. And all of the lead singers from the first 3 bands came out to sing along, which was quite badass...although it would've been even better if only Johnny Santos had come out, but it still fucking rocked. As did this concert...therefore I'm giving it a 10.
