8/8/03 - This is the end...
Well. This is it. Today the House of Sin is 5 years old. And it's also the last time I'll be updating this site. Yep. I'm sure it's no big surprise, but I've decided to close the HoS down. Well, not completely, it'll still be around for a long time (I'll get to that in a minute), however it's no longer going to be updated...with anything...ever again. Not like that's much of a change anyways, I updated what, once every 4 months. Anyway, on to the reason I've had enough of this and also the reason HoS and fourdegrees.net will still be around: rockfury.net. rockfury.net is hosted on fourdegrees.net, and it's difficult to move it to it's own server, so as long as rockfury.net is around, fourdegrees.net will be too. And rockfury.net is also the reason I've lost my motivation for HoS. I was just getting bored with HoS, needed something new, so I started up rockfury.net....at the time I was planning on just running both sites, although I think subconsciously I knew it was the end for HoS. But now that I'm so involved with and so in love with running rockfury.net that I've just had enough of HoS. It's time to move on.
When I created this site I never had any idea it would become as popular as it did. I've met so many people through this site, whether they were an asshat sending me a hate mail or just another 'hey, I like your site' e-mail, they were all great and they number in the several thousands by now I'm sure. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing...this site was a huge part of me the last 5 years and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

See, told you I'd update once a month. The only drawback to that though is that the updates are smaller. I don't get too many hate mails, only so many new cds come out for me to add lyrics for, etc. Not only that, but the new website I mentioned last update is now up and running. RockFury.net is a rock/metal news site, with the potential to add other things such as reviews, lyrics, forums, etc. Basically, I know this site here isn't going to be around forever. Eventually it will be time to move on from a personal site. And since I love being a webmaster, why not run one devoted to the music I love. Anyway, be sure to check that out, and while you're there, sign up for the newsletter.

5 months, eh? I think that's a new record for me. However, I got to thinking. I've come to a crossroads with my site and it was time to make a decision. I knew I had to either quit fucking around with it and just call it a day and close up shop, or get serious about this site and 1. update it more often and 2. do it with reckless abandon. After much thought, I decided on the latter. No more will I wait months to update this site. I am shooting for updating at least once a month, and also as part of this, I've started a Livejournal so everyone can keep up on what's going on with me and read my not quite humorous, yet slightly interesting anecdotes about my life. So keep an eye on that, there's a link for it over there on the left.
Also, I did some much need spring cleaning. Gone are some of the sites I hosted, as well as the links section. Now, the only links I have are the ones on the left there. Also, there is now a monthly contest where I give away all kinds of promotional shit (stickers, sampler cd's, etc). If you can think of a way for the contest to be better, let me know.
Lastly, I've got a new project in the works. The wheels inside my head have been spinning the last week, and I've been working hard to get it implemented. I'm not going to say what it is, but keep an eye on the fourdegrees.net main page for this new endeavor of mine, it should be up within a couple of weeks.

10/20/02 - Seeing red again.
Wow, alot has happened since the last time I updated. Let's see here...
1. On August 4th, I asked Holly to marry me. Yes, the Reverend is now engaged. Don't ask me when the wedding is, cause we don't know. 'When we feel like it' seems to be the most popular response.
2. On August 30th, I got to see Tool for the first time. It was simply one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I was literally shaking when they turned off the lights and there was like a 5 minute buildup before they came out. Then when they did come out, they played Sober. I'll admit it, I shed a tear or two. It was all very surreal...very dreamlike, because here's this group of 4 guys that I have idolized for the past 8 years or so, and I'm finally getting to see them perform in person. It's safe to say that show dropped the rating of all the other concerts I've been to, because that was a perfect 10 and nothing else deserves to be mentioned as high as that concert.
3. On September 7th, I totalled my car. Ok, so 'totalled' sounds pretty serious, but it really wasn't. I was fine except for a sore chest from the seat belt (although if I hadn't had my seat belt on, my head would have met the windshield rather forcefully). I was driving home from work on a Saturday night, and my silly ass took the 4 lane main road through town, which is a mistake because people drive down it like fucking morons, especially at night on the weekends. Well, I'm following a white Chevy Blazer, and I'm not tailgating or speeding at all. Well, apparantly the person in the Blazer (which I'll soon find out is a 16 year old kid) wasn't paying attention, because all of a sudden he rear-ends the car in front of him, which had stopped to make a left turn across traffic off of the main road, while going full speed. So, seeing as how the Blazer went from 35mph to 0mph in about 0.00002 seconds, I had little to no time to react, and rear-ended the Blazer going about 25-30. Legally, my fault, and I was cited for it, but damn I wanted to punch that kid for not paying attention. And of course, because it was a Blazer, and my car was a Ford Tempo, his bumper went over my bumper and smashed the front of my car, causing more damage than the car was worth (hence "totalled") while putting a few scrapes on his bumper. Fucking kids. I go 8 years without being in an accident, and a 16 year old punk with a new license wrecks mommy's SUV and gets me involved in it.
Anyway, enough about me and on to the site. I added a new section called Tales of Technical Stupidity (located under the Interact section). What's this you say? Well, as some of you may know, I work in retail sales. Computer and office electronics sales to be more specific, and I run across alot of dumb shit. This section is me documenting the amusing encounters I've had.
Also, I started to get the CD reviews section back up. There's only 4 or 5 so far, but I've got a list of CD's I need to review. If you want to write your own review, feel free to send it to me and if it's halfway decent, I'll add it to the site. Same goes with concert reviews, I've been doing that for awhile and only a few people have sent some in. Come on, I'm trying to get you people involved. Hell, if you have a website that you want to get a little traffic, write a review and you'll get a link on here which could generate some decent hits for you.
Lastly, I changed my Bootlegs section from audio bootlegs to video bootlegs. There's only about 10 shows on there now, but it's growing. And of course, you have to be on IRC to get the videos. Go to the Multimedia section to find out more if you don't already know.

7/9/02 - Fiend for the fans...
First things first, I'm going to see Tool on August 30th. Whooo! And even though it's in a shitty venue, a fucking NBA arena, we have what looks to be really good seats -- just to the left of the stage, 3rd row. It still hasn't hit me....this band that I've adored and worshipped for a good 8 years now, that for some reason or another I wasn't able to go see every other time they came here, I'm finally going to get to see them in person. AH!
Moving on, I had to change my radio station from Live365 to LaunchCast because Live365 is going to start charging broadcasters to cover the royalty fees they now have to pay. Can anyone please tell me anything that's more evil than record companies? You weren't losing money to webcasts, you fucking greedy jackasses! Now most of the webcasting sites are going to go under -- including Live365. Although it is a change for the better because LaunchCast is much much better...loads more songs, higher quality, even good quality streaming videos. Although they still don't have as good of a video selection as I do.
Secondly, I removed the guestbook, it was getting just downright ridiculous....from now on if you wanna say something, e-mail me or post on the message board.

5/13/02 - I wanna feel the changes coming down.
Well well well, a new layout. I never realized how much I hated the old one until I got this one done and then compared the two. I always thought that one was pretty good, but it was over 2 years old so I figured it was time for a change. I dunno about you, but I like it. Anyway, hopefully I'll be updating alot more often now that it's summer.

3/11/02 - Consumed with memories.
I can't believe it. Fear Factory has broken up. Basically, they alone are responsible for how my musical tastes have evolved the last 4 years, and probably for the rest of my life. I remember when I bought Obsolete when it came out, not really liking it because I thought it was too heavy....but then the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me, and I came to realize how amazing the music was....at times it was so powerful and full of rage, yet at other times it was just so beautiful. From then on, I was open to the heavier type of music, moving from there to the likes of System of a Down, Static-X and Soulfly, to even heavier and darker stuff like In Flames, Dimmu Borgir and Iced Earth, then to the likes of Therion, Symphony X and At Vance, which even led me into listening to a little classical....all that because of Fear Factory. They were one of the bands that I could count on one hand that I considered my absolute favorites...both on their albums and in concert...and now they're gone. I only wish I had been exposed to them long before 1998.
Anyway, I'm in the process of completely rewriting this whole site...rants, cd reviews, the 'about me' section...everything. I realized it's all basically out of date...so look for that pretty soon. And do you realize this design is now almost 2 years old? Hmm...sounds to me like it's time for a redesign. But, probably not till summer....working full-time all day then going to school at night takes its toll on a person.

1/9/02 - Let it snow.
I love snow. We went sledding in the wee hours of the night last night. Quality fun was had. And don't even get me started on how fun it is to drive in it...wheee. It should be January all year around.
Anyway, not much this update, but you guys should send me more hate mail....I love it, and it gets me to update the site sooner because it's just about the only fun thing involved with doing this site anymore. Bleh, oh well. Maybe that's cause the rest of my life is so much fun and enjoyable now, that doing this has gotten downright mundane. *shrug*
