I know what you're thinking, who the fuck is Dog Fashion Disco? Yeah, that's what I was thinking...all I knew is Serj from System of a Down was really into these guys and was even doing guest vocals on their upcoming cd. And my friend was on the guest list so I downloaded some of their mp3's and prepared myself for what would end up being quite an amazing and impressive performance from an up and coming band. It was at a venue called The Flying Machine, that I'd never been to before...I couldn't believe it when we pulled up...it looked like an old bingo hall and it was out in the middle of the fucking woods. There were like two cars there, both of which were bandmembers cars...hell, the lady at the door even had to ask if we were with one of the bands *shrug*. So we grabbed some seats at the back and waited for the show to start...while we were waiting, we got to talk to Greg, the guitarist from DFD, which was fucking badass. Then a little bit later, DFD played one song for the sound check, and right then I knew how amazing these guys were and I couldn't fucking wait till the other bands finished their shit up so I could hear them again.

Anyway, finally like an hour and a half after we got there, and there's like a half dozen other people in the place, the first band comes on. To tell you the truth, the only thing I remember about them is their name was Hollow Pointe. Yeah, they must not have been good if I can't remember shit about 'em, so we'll move onto the next band.

Next up, Ink. All I know is they're a local band, I think I may have even saw them at the World Series of Metal back in August, but there were so many bands at that, I don't even remember. Either way, they sounded like...hmm let me think...oh that's right, every other unoriginal new metal band. By this time there were maybe 50 people in the place...there were even some attempts to start a pit, albeit unsuccessful cause whenever someone got hit hard, they went flying 20 feet away through the tables and chairs. The only things about their set that kicked ass was they played a metal version of the Ghostbusters theme, although they did fuck up a couple times....and later they fucking played the music from the original Super Mario Bros....from the first level, and then the second level, you know, the underground one...you know the music, admit it. Damn it was hilarious, you just had to be there...I still can't stop laughing when I think about that.

Finally, it was time for DFD, so we went down front a got a spot to the left of the stage, with a great view. Oh yeah, the reason it was a great view. Remember I said there were 50 people there for Ink, well at least half of 'em left, so we had like 25 people there...a row of people right up against the barrier, and us off to the side. It was kinda pathetic on one hand, but it was also fucking cool being in such an intimate atmosphere with the band. Ah yes, I guess I should explain what they sound like....well, other than fucking amazing, of course. They remind me alot of Mr. Bungle in that alot of their songs have a dark, epic sound, and they make good use of the keyboard..freaky sounds are good. The only major difference is they're quite a bit heavier than Mr. Bungle. I'm telling you, go check these guys out...and when they hit it big, here I'll be sitting saying duh, where have you been. The only thing I didn't like about their set....it was too damn short. They seemed like they were in a hurry or had to be done by a certain time...there were only 20 people there, it wasn't very late, they should've played alot longer if you ask me. But oh well, it was still a great fucking show. I'm giving it a 10. Oh yeah, and you can check out the pictures from it right here.
